Surfers Path Marathon/Capitola Half Marathon Race

The Capitola Half Marathon consists of a 13.1 mile run from Santa Cruz to Capitola and back.

Registered athletes will pick up their bibs, timing chips and event shirts at the Capitola Village Beach Bandstand. Race registration will be available during packet pick-up.

Esplanade Park Sculpture Unveiling

The City of Capitola and the Capitola Art and Cultural Commission are pleased to announce the unveiling of the City of Capitola’s newest public art.

Please join us at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 29th at Esplanade Park for the unveiling.

Kim Chavez Bronze Works has created the newest public art for the City. The Esplanade Park Sea Lion sculpture, when complete, is intended not only to be viewed, but to be touched and climbed upon.

PANS Awareness Day

Pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome, or PANS, is an inflammation on a child’s brain triggered by a faulty immune response. The affected child quickly begins to exhibit symptoms such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, severe restrictive eating, anxiety, tics, personality changes, decline in math and handwriting abilities, and more.

The Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce hosted a Capitola City Council Candidates Forum in the City of Capitola Council Chambers on Wednesday, October 3.  Candidates discussed their priorities and answered questions for about two hours.

The forum also will be rebroadcast periodically by Community Television of Santa Cruz County.
