Events

The Art & Cultural Commission has a rich tradition of providing the community with a variety of visual and performing art events. The Wednesday night Twilight Concerts are held throughout the summer months in Esplanade Park, featuring live bands and musical styles from jazz, western, Latin and swing, to blues and good old rock & roll.  Select summer Sundays offer Sunday Art & Music at the Beach events, with quality art vendors. Family-friendly Movies on the Beach arrive Friday evenings in August and September. See each event category below for dates and details. 

 

Capitola Plein Air Capitola Plein Air

Welcome to the Capitola Plein Air!  In November 2023 40 professional artists visited Capitola to paint the town...litterally!   Artist set up their easels on the wharf, shore, and streets of beautiful Capitola to paint live for four days. You'll find hundreds of paintings on display for sale and entered into competition during the final day exhibition is held.  Check back in spring of 2024 for dates and more details about his exciting event.   Check out www.capitolapleinair.com for more details.

2013 Twilight Concert Crowd photo Twilight Concerts

The Capitola Twilight Concerts are held Wednesdays 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. June - August. The Concerts are held at the Esplanade Park Bandstand, with the one of largest dance floors around.  Bring a picnic or dine at one of our many area restaurants, many of whom sponsor our concerts.  Seating is on the lawn, seawall, benches or the beach. Please bring your low back chairs or picnic blankets. Warm jackets suggested for cool evenings.  No alcohol or dogs in the park or on the beach.

Interested in performing for one of our events? The submission window for summer 2024 has closed, but.check back in September 2024 for application to apply for summer 2025.

Enjoy an afternoon in Capitola at the Sunday Art at the Beach event this summer at Esplanade Park overlooking the Monterey Bay. Browse quality artwork including painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry and mixed media from local artists. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.
