El Niño Preparedness Information

The National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association indicate a significant “El Niño” weather pattern exists in the Pacific Ocean. Due to this weather pattern, experts from both agencies have indicated a 95 percent likely scenario that the State of California, specifically the Monterey Bay area, may experience a wetter than normal winter this season.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommends community members make a family communication plan for when a disaster strikes and build a disaster kit that includes basic items your household may need. Disaster preparedness recommendations can be found at www.ready.gov.
