Gubernatorial Recall Election 2021

The Gubernatorial Recall Election will be conducted locally by the Santa Cruz County Clerk's Office / Elections Department. This election takes place in September, with the official election date of Tuesday, September 14, 2021. There are several ways to vote in this election: 

1) Vote Using the Ballot Mailed to You

All active registered voters will be mailed an official Vote By Mail ballot packet by August 16. Once you've filled it out, mail your ballot using the pre-paid return envelope, or drop it in one of the secure 24/7 Official Ballot Boxes in our County. There is a ballot box in front of Capitola City Hall in the free one-hour parking lot. 

2) Vote Early in-Person

You can vote early in-person from August 16 to September 10 at the Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections Office and at the Watsonville City Clerk's Office. 

3) Vote in Person 

You can vote in-person from Saturday, September 11 to Tuesday, September 14 at several locations throughout the County, including New Brighton Middle School. For a list of in-person voting locations, click this link. Any voter can go to any location. COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed.
