Wharf Memorial Program Plaques & Benches

Please contact the Public Works Department for information regarding existing Wharf plaques. 

The January 2023 Storms greatly impacted the Capitola Wharf, Esplanade, and other public areas. Included in the damage were memorial plaques and benches. While we don’t know at this time which plaques remain on the Wharf due to the recent and ongoing damage, in 2022 the City filmed documentation of the Wharf plaques, in anticipation of the Wharf Renovation Project. The City does not know the extent that which memorial benches were damaged or misplaced in the storm. 

The design team for the repair/reconstruction of the wharf will take into consideration plaques and benches and how they will be integrated going forward. Please email or call Public Works to update your contact information so that we can inform you of those plans.

New Memorial Program Applications

Please contact the Assistant to the City Manager (click here for email) for information regarding new memorial program applications. The City is not accepting applications to place any new plaques on Capitola Wharf. Limited space is available for new memorial plaques.
