Nov. 20: PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff

UPDATE: 1:10pm 11/19: 

At 1:10 pm, the Capitola Police Department was notified by Santa Cruz County Office of Emergency Services that Santa Cruz County has been removed from the scheduled 11/20 public safety power shutoff. We encourage you to monitor local news, PG&E website, and other trusted social media sites as well as Nextdoor for updated information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: 12:19pm 11/19:

Staff from the Capitola Police Department just concluded participation in a county-wide conference call regarding the upcoming PSPS. The number of potentially impacted customers has been reduced to approximately 18,000. Santa Cruz County has been designated as Time Period 9 for this weather event, and the following timelines are provided to the public via PG&E. 

11/19 at 5pm- decision to de-energize (24-hour notice)

11/20 at 8pm- de-energization initiated

11/21 at 8am- initiating re-energization protocols (all-clear)

*Please note that these are projected timelines based upon the currently predicted weather conditions for 11/20.

 

According to PG&E, approximately 36,000 residents of Santa Cruz County may be impacted by the upcoming 11/20 PSPS.  The cities and unincorporated areas that could be impacted include: Aptos, Ben Lomond, Boulder Creek, Capitola, Davenport, Felton, Mount Hermon, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville.   Please refer to the attachment below to review a map of the potentially impacted areas and the below link to access the PG&E sponsored address lookup tool and the link to Santa Cruz County Office of Emergency Services (OES) for local information.
