The annual Capitola Village Children’s Halloween Parade will be Sunday, Oct. 26. The line-up begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Village and Beach Parking Lot 1 behind Capitola City Hall. The parade begins at 2 p.m. and heads down Capitola Avenue through the Village. It ends at Esplanade Park, where there will be refreshments. Participants may trick-or-treat in Capitola Village shops following the parade. The event is sponsored by the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce and Capitola Village Businesses. Mariners and the public on the West Coast can now use a "Whale Alert" mobile app to help decrease the risk whales face from ship strikes. Whale Alert has been developed by a collaboration of government agencies, academic institutions, non-profit conservation groups and private sector industries, led by NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries.
