I never knew how daunting and, quite frankly, annoying the word unprecedented would become in 2020. This year has and continues to be a difficult and catastrophic time. Specifically in our community of Santa Cruz County, we have dealt with devastating wild fires, displacement, a global pandemic, and the federal effects of political division dripping down into the local community. Over the course of 2020 I have created a visual diary through the medium of photography encapsulating symbolic items, significant events, and daily life. My submission is a collage of images sourced from my visual diary to explore the vast amount of obstacles and hurdles 2020 has amplified and produced, continuously described as unprecedented.
