General Event

Capitola's Cooperstown Connection

Join avid baseball historian and local author Geoffrey Dunn as he explores Harry Hooper's Hall-of-Fame career in baseball and his life in Capitola following his retirement from the professional game. "While you could take Hooper out of professional baseball, you couldn't take the baseball out of Harry," Dunn says.

The author of "Santa Cruz Is in the Heart," Dunn will remind us that Capitola was always in Harry's heart, too.

First Flush Dry Run

Volunteers Needed for First Flush Monitoring

Participate with the Coastal Watershed Council in the on-going community effort to monitor the water flowing off our streets into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary during the first significant rain of the wet season.  Volunteers monitor specific storm drains during the first initial runoff.  Volunteers will be trained to collect water samples that are sent to a professional lab, and to monitor water temperature, conductivity, ph and transparency at the storm drains.  Please plan to attend both trainings.
