The City of Capitola Art & Cultural Commission is delighted to host the tenth annual Capitola Plein Air, juried art competition, exhibition, and sale. It is a FREE event, with hands-on art-making for all visitors, live music, and forty local and regional artists selling their works and competing for the top prize.

Welcome to Capitola Plein Air! This November, forty professional artists will arrive in Capitola to paint the town…literally!

Town Hall - Capitola Wharf Temporary Use 2024/2025

The Capitola Wharf is expected to reopen in the fall of 2024.  The City of Capitola will have temporary uses on the Capitola Wharf while a comprehensive long-term plan is being developed. Temporary activities would be one year (Fall 2024 to Fall 2025).

Save Our Shores- Capitola Beach Cleanup

Volunteers needed! Join us for the next Capitola Beach Cleanup on Saturday March 16th from 9-11am. Volunteer registration is required for this event.

Capitola Wharf Interpretive Signage Survey

The City of Capitola is currently constructing the Capitola Wharf Resiliency and Public Access Project, aimed at repairing damage and improving the longevity of the historic Capitola Wharf. As part of this effort, the Capitola Wharf Interpretive Signage Project, a partnership project between the City and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, supports the development and installation of interpretive signage to promote public education and community engagement. At this time, the City is seeking public feedback on the educational content that will be included on the signage.

Wharf Update Town Hall

Join this public community meeting on Wednesday, February 21 at 6 P.M. in the City Hall Council Chambers. 

City Manager Goldstein, Public Works Director Kahn, Building Official Martin and Mayor Brown will provide more information regarding the need to demolish the Wharf buildings and answer questions. This town hall will also begin the long-term visioning process for Capitola Wharf.
