The Capitola Wharf is expected to reopen in the fall of 2024. The City of Capitola will have temporary uses on the Capitola Wharf while a comprehensive long-term plan is being developed. Temporary activities would be one year (Fall 2024 to Fall 2025).
The City of Capitola is currently constructing the Capitola Wharf Resiliency and Public Access Project, aimed at repairing damage and improving the longevity of the historic Capitola Wharf. As part of this effort, the Capitola Wharf Interpretive Signage Project, a partnership project between the City and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, supports the development and installation of interpretive signage to promote public education and community engagement. At this time, the City is seeking public feedback on the educational content that will be included on the signage.
Join this public community meeting on Wednesday, February 21 at 6 P.M. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
City Manager Goldstein, Public Works Director Kahn, Building Official Martin and Mayor Brown will provide more information regarding the need to demolish the Wharf buildings and answer questions. This town hall will also begin the long-term visioning process for Capitola Wharf.
2025 Follow Up: The City of Capitola held a Public Workshop in January of 2024 to discuss the Park Avenue Traffic Calming Project. The input received, the results of the survey and further options will be on the agenda for the upcoming February 13, 2025 Council meeting
