July 4th Safety Tips

The City wants to remind everyone to be safe over the July 4th holiday. Fireworks are illegal on public property in the City of Capitola. Safe and sane fireworks are legal on private property only in the City. Strict enforcement efforts will be in effect. The beaches in Capitola will be closed at 10:00 p.m.

Please keep you, your families, your neighbors and your pets safe. Attached are two links for safety tips on keeping your pets safe.

Capitola Candidate Information for the November 2016 Election

The November 2016 Presidential General Election is just months away and deadlines for those interested in running for Capitola city offices are this summer.  Capitola's openings include two Council Members and one City Treasurer; Terms for Mayor Edward A. Bottorff, Council Member Dennis Norton, and City Treasurer Christine McBroom expire in December.

The candidate filing period begins Monday, July 18, and ends August 12, 2016.  Candidates for City Council and City Treasurer must obtain candidate papers from the Capitola City Clerk.
