Development and Design Review

Development and Design Review is an administrative body that consists of City staff involved in the development review process.  It is responsible for reviewing development permit applications to ensure that new proposals are harmonious with Capitola's unique community character.

The administrative body provides comments and recommendations on regular design applications prior to Planning Commission and/or City Council review and action.  The body also reviews and takes action on minor use and minor design permits.  Members of the public may submit public comments on minor permit applications if a formal hearing is requested in advance.

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.  To view past and upcoming meetings and agendas, please click here or visit https://www.cityofcapitola.org/meetings.   This review process has replaced the functions of the Architectural and Site Review Committee.
