Media: Digital During the onset of the lightning fires that plagued our Californian landscape I was inspired by the sheer numbers of locals who stayed in town and rolled their sleeves up for a worthy cause whether it was donating cash or food or just their time and sweat helping out at the food depots and shelters. This was truly amazing to see our community come together to help all affected and displaced within our Santa Cruz Community. I felt compelled to create an illustration that honored the victims of the fires as well as the those who rose to the challenge of selflessly helping people in need. The illustration had 2 versions both were printed onto decals for general sale and raised nearly $2000 for the Fire Relief Fund! The art is simple & honest - inspired by the skate scene and the power fist that symbolizes strength thru adversity. The rising flame depicts the tragedy of the fires. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes we are Santa Cruz Strong!
