Organics Recycling

Food Scrap Sticker

Beginning January 1, 2022

All food waste and yard waste will need to be placed in your green organics/yard waste container.

Food and yard waste in landfills emit 20% of the state's methane. Methane, a climate super pollutant, is 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

In compliance with new statewide regulation (SB1383), the City of Capitola will be required to include food scraps to current yard waste collection services.

All businesses are required to subscribe to organic collection service, and place all food waste and yard waste in a green organics container.
