The City of Capitola is currently recruiting for the position of

SENIOR MECHANIC 

Salary: $4945/month - $6,011/month Plus Comprehensive Benefits

The above salaries include a 6% salary concession due to COVID-19 budget reductions.

Salary concession will be in place through at least December 26, 2020.

2020 Fall Cleanup

Take advantage of this service provided by GreenWaste Recovery to help you with your seasonal cleaning!  Week of October 12th.

Dispose of one bulky item and seven bags or cans of garbage (not to exceed 50lbs. each). All items must be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your regular day of service.

Household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
For bulky items please call GreenWaste Recovery to schedule a pick up at 800-665-2209.

Candidates will discuss their priorities and answer questions.

Capitola Beach Closed Labor Day Weekend

August 28, 2020: To further stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Capitola Beach will be closed begining 5am on Saturday, September 5 through 5pm on Monday, September 7. During this closure, traversing the beach to access the ocean is permitted and the water will remain open at all times for activity and water sports. 

On Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, the beach will be opened from 6pm to 8pm only. 

CZU Lightning Complex Fire Resources

The CZU Lightning Complex Fire is a regional emergency, mostly impacting the Santa Cruz Mountain community of Santa Cruz County. Residents of the City of Capitola are not at risk. We encourage you to stay informed and remain prepared in case of any emergency.

Learn How to Vote in the November Election

Our world has changed drastically since the last election, and the November 3, 2020, Presidential General Election is also changing. To provide a public forum for feedback, questions, and discussion, Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin will hold a “Voting Matters” Zoom session twice a month until Election Day. 

The next "Voting Matters" Session will be held at 6pm, Thursday, August 20

COVID-19 Updates

California Releases SMARTER Plan

On February 17, California state government released the SMARTER Plan, the next phase of COVID-19 response. The Plan focusses on how to manage the presence of COVID-19 in the foreseeable future as the state moves forward. For more information, click here. The three biggest goals of the SMARTER Plan are to 1) Minimize the strain on our healthcare system; 2) Keep staff and the public safe; and 3) Keep businesses open and schools in person.
